What are tapered darts?

A tapered dart refers to the shape of the dart barrel and how it ‘tapers’ at the front and/or rear. A rear tapered dart will start reasonably straight and thick at the front and taper down towards the stem. This type of dart is perfect for players who like to grip the dart with their thumb at the rear of the barrel.

With a front tapered dart you will see the front of the barrel taper down towards the point. This is the ideal choice for players looking to reduce air resistance with their darts, as the tapered shape will help them to travel through the air. A front tapered dart can also be the preferred choice for ‘front grippers’ (players who like to hold the dart at the front) as you can get a more comfortable grip of the dart and the point together.
