How to put EVO Darts Points in your darts

The below blog will give you a step-by-step guide on how to install EVO points into your darts and the benefits of changing to this setup.

Before you start repointing your darts

If you are planning on repointing your darts with the EVO points system, it is important to be fully prepared and to have all the correct equipment with you. The Caliburn EVO Points Starter Kit comes with one set of plain Caliburn EVO points, a Point Driver Key and a Spigot Replacement Tool.

You will also need a darts repointing tool (sold separately), such as the Mission R-Point Expert Hand Held Repointer, to remove the current points in your darts. You can then install the Spigot into your barrels for the first use and, once the EVO points system is in place, you will be able to replace your points more quickly with just the Point Driver Key.

Using the EVO Replaceable Dart Point System to change your points

Step 1- Firstly, remove the current set of points on your darts using a repointing tool (sold separately).

Step 2 - Screw the 'Spigot' onto the 'Spigot Replacement Tool' included in the starter kit or available separately. 

Step 3 -  Take your first dart and (using a repointing tool (sold separately)) install the 'Spigot' and 'Spigot Replacement Tool' into the barrel, just as you'd install any regular point.

Step 4 - Push the 'Spigot Replacement Tool' into the barrel until its lip is against the barrel. This ensures the "Spigot" is in the same place in each barrel.

Step 5 - Unscrew the 'Spigot Replacement Tool' from your dart.

Step 6 - Screw the EVO point into your dart and use the 'Point Driver Key' to tighten it in place. 

And you're done!

Repeat with your other two darts to then have a complete set of re-pointed darts.  You can now change your points in seconds; simply use the 'Point Driver Key' to unscrew one set and screw in the next set.

Why repoint your darts?

For many years players have used various repointing tools to change the points in their darts. This has been a useful innovation in the world of darts, as the points in your darts can be just as important as the flight or shaft in influencing your throw. 

Dart points come in various lengths, thicknesses and grip styles and players will often tinker with different styles of points to work out which ones most suit their game. A grippier point will work best for players who like to touch the point when they throw, whilst changing the thickness of your points can make your darts land differently in the board.

 

Frequently Asked Questions

Do all Evo points come with spigots? 

Yes! Each set of Evo points contains three spigots, in the end of each point. 

How easy is it to remove the spigot once installed? 

Easy! When the point when is screwed into the spigot they act like a regular point, so remove them as usual with a standard re-pointer. There is also a ‘Spigot Replacement Tool’ in the starter set, which can be screwed into the Spigot and used to remove the spigot (again with a standard re-pointer). 

Can you install the spigot with the point attached? 

We would recommend using a ‘Spigot Replacement Tool’ to ensure the Spigots are in the barrels at exactly the right depth. The ‘Spigot Replacement Tool’ is a very minimal cost to get them consistent across your darts. 

What if the point breaks off flush to the barrel? 

The Evo Points have been stress-tested for durability and don’t have a weak point. In the unlikely situation where a point breaks the points would be removed in the same way as any other points. If you can get some purchase on the point you can twist it to remove the point and leave the Spigot in the barrel, then screw in a new point. As with any point which breaks inside the barrel and you can’t get a grip of it, you would have to drill them out.
