A steel tip dart goes with a bristle dartboard, which you would typically see being used on television by the professional players, whilst a soft tip dart is best suited for an electronic board and is the preferred choice for young children, as the points on the darts are made of plastic, rather than the sharp metal material used for steel tip darts.
