DAVE CHISNALL

Dave Chisnall has firmly established himself as a top contender since joining the PDC in 2011. ‘Chizzy’ showed his prowess with a run to the final of the BDO World Championship in 2010. Following that run at Lakeside, Chisnall soon made the switch over to the professional ranks in the PDC.

After winning a PDC tour card through the first staging of Q-School, Chisnall went on to win his first PDC ranking title in his maiden year on the professional circuit. He has appeared in six major finals in the PDC, including twice at both the World Grand Prix and the Masters, as well as the Grand Slam of Darts and Players Championship Finals.

Chisnall’s tournament victories in the PDC have all come on the ProTour, racking up a number of titles in the European Tour and Players Championship events. In the 2023 campaign, ‘Chizzy’ bagged five tournament wins, including a hat-trick of triumphs on the European Tour. Shop our Dave Chisnall collection for his signature darts, flights and shirts!

Chisnall won a trio of European Tour titles in 2023, the Baltic Sea Darts Open in February, followed by the Dutch Darts Championship in April, and then the Hungarian Darts Trophy in September. His other two tournament wins were on the floor, picking up the Players Championships 23 and 30 titles later on in the season.

How old is Dave Chisnall?

Born on September 12, 1980, Dave Chisnall celebrated his 43rd birthday in 2023 – a year which also saw him pass 20 tournament wins in the PDC. He started his darts career playing in local leagues and tournaments, before progressing on to the BDO circuit in 2004.

His first title in the BDO system came at the 2007 BDO Gold Cup, and the following year he won through the qualifiers to secure his World Championship debut at the Lakeside. After debuting in the BDO’s flagship event, ‘Chizzy’ enjoyed a run to the final of the World Championship in 2010, losing out to Martin Adams 7-5 in the decider.

A switch to the PDC in 2011 has brought with it more success on the oche for Chisnall, picking up the PDC Best Newcomer award at the end of his first season on the professional tour. He also won Best PDC ProTour Player in 2013 and is now a regular face in the major events on the calendar.

Dave Chisnall Career Highlights

Dave Chisnall’s breakthrough came at the start of 2010 with a run to the final of the BDO World Championship. In only his second appearance at the Lakeside, ‘Chizzy’ recorded wins over Darryl Fitton, Tony West, Ted Hankey and Tony O’Shea to reach the final. He just fell short of becoming a world champion after losing 7-5 in sets to Martin Adams.

In January 2021, Dave Chisnall produced arguably the performance of his career to whitewash Michael van Gerwen in the PDC World Championship. ‘Chizzy’ averaged 107.34 as he beat the world number one 5-0 in sets in their quarter-final clash at Alexandra Palace. His run ended in a 6-3 defeat to Gary Anderson in the semi-finals.

At the 2023 Hungarian Darts Trophy, Dave Chisnall and Luke Humphries met in the final and served up one of the all-time European Tour classic matches. Humphries threw a nine-dart leg and a 170 finish, but could not deny ‘Chizzy’ from winning his third European Tour title of the season. Chisnall edged a last-leg decider to win 8-7 in a match which saw both players average above 100.
