Alan Soutar has made his mark on the professional circuit since winning his tour card at the start of 2021. ‘Soots’ racked up more than 50 international caps whilst representing Scotland and won gold in the 2013 WDF World Cup men’s team event. The proud Scot qualified for two BDO World Championships at Lakeside in 2011 and 2016, before jumping over to the PDC and winning his tour card at the first attempt.

Alan Soutar & Mission Darts

The darts Alan Soutar currently uses are his signature Mission Alan Soutar Steel Tip Darts in 24g. These darts are made of 90% tungsten and feature a straight barrel design and bull nose, with his Scottish heritage represented with blue and white electro plate coating on the barrels. There is a mixture of radial grooves, with micro cuts in between, on the barrels to help enhance the grip of the dart.

This collection also includes the Alan Soutar Darts Shirt, made by Mission, which has been specifically designed for him to wear. The shirt’s design features the Scottish flag and his ‘Soots’ nickname across the front.

Alan Soutar Career Highlights

Alan Soutar joined the professional circuit in the PDC at the start of 2021, after winning his tour card at UK-School. Away from the oche, the former Royal Marine Commando leads a busy life as a fire fighter and guide dog trainer. ‘Soots’ featured on the PDC’s ‘The Darts Show’ programme to talk through his story as both a darts player and his work away from the game.

At the end of his first year playing on the PDC circuit, Alan Soutar made his debut in the PDC World Darts Championship. The Scot had an Alexandra Palace campaign to remember as he went all the way to the last 16, with a stunning 136 checkout sealing a 4-3 victory against former Grand Slam of Darts champion and the seventh seed Jose De Sousa in the third round of the tournament.

The following year Alan Soutar was back at Alexandra Palace and causing upsets. In the 2023 edition of the PDC World Darts Championship, ‘Soots’ took out a match-winning 160 finish to whitewash the 24th seed Daryl Gurney 3-0 in the second round. Soutar once again made it to the last 16 in his second appearance in the biggest tournament the sport has to offer.

Alan Soutar lives in Arbroath, a town in Angus, in Scotland. His Scottish roots are the inspiration behind the darts and accessories in this collection, with the blue and white colours and the Scottish flag featuring prominently. Before joining the pro ranks in the PDC, ‘Soots’ was a regular in Scotland’s BDO/WDF team winning numerous medals at the WDF World and Europe Cup events.

Born on January 10, 1978, Alan Soutar celebrated his 46th birthday in 2024 – a year which also marked his fourth consecutive season playing on the PDC circuit. Before making the move to the professional tour, Soutar competed in BDO events and twice qualified for the BDO World Championship. ‘Soots’ played at the Lakeside in both 2011 and 2016 and on each occasion as a qualifier after winning through the last-chance qualifying event in Hull.
